Gingerella Ginger Ale is made from Mother Nature’s magical healer – ginger – grown organically by farmers in Forest Garden Growers Association in Sri Lanka. Her clean crisp and fiery kick comes from a unique blend of Fairtrade organic ginger, lemon, Fairtrade organic vanilla from Sri Lanka and sugar from India- and the taste of justice.
Ginger offers the best of all worlds, it is a natural healer and has a fantastic flavour. Gingerella celebrates gingerness as a firecracker who fights for justice. This fiery redhead will turn a few heads but it’s what’s in her head and heart that’s important. If she gets people to think about the plight of impoverished farmers in developing countries, she’s doing her job.
The Forest Garden Growers cooperative is made up of 130 small family farmers who grow a variety tropical spices and fruit. Our ginger is grown in the central and Uva provinces in Sri Lanka, which are pretty hot and humid all year-perfect temperatures for going ginger. It is organically grown without pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilisers using traditional farming techniques. It’s a local variety of ginger that has an intense fiery flavour and aroma.
Faced with low productivity, agrochemical contaminations, degraded lands, low bio diversity and nutrient imbalances as the result of conventional agriculture, the famers have switched to organic and biodynamic farming to replenish their land and their livelihood. Standing up to middlemen and multinational agro-chemical companies in order to get a fair price for their crops, improve the health and productivity of their farms, and the quality and quantity of their harvests.
